Community Journalism

After graduating from the University of Alabama with a B.A. in journalism in 2012, Hailey was hired as a full-time reporter and later news editor for a weekly community newspaper. For two years, she covered community events, city governance, and everyday life in the town of Northport. The experience shaped her understanding of journalism as a form of community stewardship. She learned to tell stories grounded in continuity and tradition while remaining attentive to what was emerging and new.

She left newspaper writing in 2014 upon becoming a Mother to her first son.
