Hailey began her journalism career in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, as a staff reporter for the Crimson White during the aftermath of the April 27, 2011 tornado “super outbreak.” There, she developed an approach to storytelling rooted in presence, record-keeping, and continuity amidst devastating conditions of fragmentation.
