As a research assistant in the Department of Journalism at the University of Alabama, Hailey studied how U.S. military veterans are represented in media narratives and examined how military presence shapes audience responses to protest and political resistance.
She also began teaching undergraduate courses in journalism, and was recognized as the department’s Outstanding Graduate Research Student in 2018.
